“The… patient should be made to understand that he or she must take charge of his own life. Don’t take your body to the doctor as if he were a repair shop.”
– Quentin Regestein[/message]
The doctor is within!
Our bodies are capable of healing themselves – the innate intelligence present within the body allows the healing to take place. The body constantly monitors and adjusts, analyzes and corrects. However, sometimes this intelligence is limited by certain factors – lack of proper nutrients, injury, hormone imbalance, energy, and emotion – and needs some assistance to complete the healing process.
The physician is really “the servant” – a “go to source” when more knowledge and information is needed on a condition. The doctor actually never heals anything – they just facilitate a process to allow the body to do the healing. The word”doctor” comes from the Latin docere, meaning “to teach.” Ultimately, the physician’s role is to be the teacher and assist the patients in healing themselves!
In order to obtain better health and wellness, one must know how to listen to their own body and know to trust it – teaching these principles is the true art of the physician. Symptoms are not terrible, rather, they are messages or signals that tell of a deeper underlying problem. By listening to the body, one can come to know what is necessary to heal, be healthy, and be well!
[message type=”success”]”The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in a proper diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease.”

Most assume that health care is expensive or otherwise unattainable. Our society has taught us to be passive in the health process – wait until something bad happens or “check with your doctor prior to…” However, what knows your body better than your own body?
All individuals can be empowered to obtain better health, heal themselves, know their bodies, and achieve optimum wellness. This process takes place through proper knowledge of the processes of the human body and the proper application of health principles.
