"The Keyboard" by Sebastian AnthonyCarpal Tunnel Syndrome is a common occurrence in our modern times – especially with the heavy use of computers. Typing on the computer keyboard and using the mouse tend to be the most common cause of this ailment.

The “carpal tunnel” is literally a tunnel underneath an archway of wrist bones (the carpals). With circumstances of weakened musculature, poor aesthetics, and poor wrist posture, the archway collapses and the nerves and tendons that live within the archway become compressed. As the tendons move with less room available than normal, they begin to create additional friction and irritate the nerves. As a result, numbness and tingling can occur in the fingers and eventual atrophy of the hand muscles can occur.

The symptoms of Carpal Tunnel include:

  • Pain in hand, forearm, or wrist (this can also awaken one at night)
  • Tingling, numbness, “pins-and-needles” sensation
  • Aching pain in the forearm
  • Stiffness of the fingers in the morning
  • Weakness of hand grip – may drop objects on accident

Symptoms typically worsen when the hand or wrist is used repetitively.

Treatment for carpal tunnel is actually quite simple and can be successfully treated at home with some simple, inexpensive equipment and our Carpal Tunnel Protocol.
